Pheromones are scentless chemical substances given off by animals and humans which act as stimuli to the opposite sex, attracting them to you. They're detected by the vomeronasal organ in the nose and send signals to the hypothalamus, the centre of attraction and sexual desire.
A Canadian company, Dreams Becoming Reality, have recently launched Silent Seduction (silentseduction.com), a product for men and women that concentrates the pheromones into a liquid.
They say the advantages of wearing pheromones include an increase in self-esteem, feelings of desire and heightened sex appeal, more looks, an added boost in business affairs, a rejuvenation of a current relationship and influence on sensual behaviour.
"You only need two or three drops per application, because it's so concentrated," says Paul Rae, president, adding an application can be combined with a favourite fragrance and lasts up to six hours. Cost is about $18 for one ml. from the Silent Seduction website; also available at lovedreamer.com, Passion and Kisses, Orillia and The Condom Shack, Toronto.
Rae sent me a bottle of the product to test, stating the substance takes a minimum of six minutes to have an effect.
I couldn't resist. With an almost non-existent social life at that time, I needed help. Although it seemed to take quite a bit longer than six minutes to work, I can report my personal life has definitely perked up.
Mmm. Silence is golden, after all!
